Jef verschueren biography template

Jef Verschueren is emeritus professor of Linguistics at the University of Antwerp.

He received a Ph.D. in Linguistics from the University of California at Berkeley. He worked as a researcher for the Flemish Fund for Scientific Research before taking up his professorship at the University of Antwerp, where he served as Dean of the Faculty of Arts from 2001 to 2009.

Visiting teaching and research tasks took him to Alicante, Barcelona, Berkeley, Brisbane, Budapest, Dalian, Düsseldorf, Gandhinagar, Helsinki, Kaunas, Ljubljana, Madrid, Melbourne, Nanjing, Novosibirsk, Paris, San Diego, Trieste, Tromsø, Zadar, and Zaragoza.

He was elected as an External Member of the Societas Scientiarum Fennica in 2010 and as a member of the Academia Europaea in 2017.
